After joining a group, building a team image that belongs to the site.
Portraits and team photographs for a research and development laboratory, in its own rooms.
Polyplus, a research and development laboratory based in Loos, joined the Sartorius group. The team photographs predated that move and no longer reflected either the headcount or the new affiliation. The site needed current images to present itself inside the group as well as outside it.
Joining an international group does not automatically create a shared sense of belonging. The images had to be ones the teams recognise themselves in, taken in their own laboratories, in their own coats, with their own instruments, rather than the interchangeable corporate imagery that looks the same from one site to the next.
Shooting in a working laboratory, around the benches and the fume hoods, without interrupting the work in progress. Short slots, fitted between two protocols. Groups form on the spot, whenever people are free, which means composing quickly and holding the same light from one team to the next.
Everyone photographed leaves with several retouched options, delivered in the crops needed for internal use as well as for publication. The team photographs are delivered separately from the individual portraits, so the laboratory can use them independently depending on the medium. Together they form a reusable base, with image rights collected from every person.
